The Beekeeper: A Review of the 2024 Action Thriller
The Beekeeper is a 2024 action thriller film directed by David Ayer and written by Kurt Wimmer. The film stars Jason Statham as Adam Clay, a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as “Beekeepers”, who sets out on a brutal campaign for vengeance after his good-hearted landlady Eloise Parker (Phylicia Rashad) commits suicide when she loses her charity’s funds to a phishing scam.

The film also features Emmy Raver-Lampman as Verona Parker, Eloise’s daughter and an FBI agent who tries to stop Clay from taking the law into his own hands. Raver-Lampman brings a sense of humanity and empathy to her role, as she struggles to balance her duty as a law enforcer and her grief as a daughter. She also has a complex relationship with Clay, who she initially suspects of killing Eloise, but later realizes that he is the only one who can bring justice to her mother’s death.
