Kabaddi 4: A Review of the 2023 Romantic Comedy
Kabaddi 4 is the fourth and final installment of the popular Kabaddi franchise, which started in 2014 with the critically acclaimed Kabaddi. The film follows the lives and loves of Kaji (Dayahang Rai), a beekeeper who has given up on finding a bride, and Bam Kaji (Saugat Malla), a math teacher who returns to his village after a failed marriage.
The film is a heartwarming and hilarious story that explores the themes of friendship, family, and fate. The film showcases the chemistry and comedy of Rai and Malla, who have been the main attractions of the series. Rai plays Kaji, a man who has lost all hope of finding love after being rejected by several women in the previous films. He decides to become a monk and live a solitary life, but his parents are not happy with his decision. They persuade him to come back home and resume his duties as the chairman of the school. There, he meets Shanti (Miruna Magar), a new teacher who seems to have a crush on him. She tries to woo him with her charm and wit, but he remains indifferent to her advances.
Malla plays Bam Kaji, a man who has a master’s degree in mathematics, but no luck in love. He comes back to his village after his ex-wife Maiya (Rishma Gurung) leaves him for another man. He is arrogant and proud of his education, and thinks that no woman in the village is worthy of him. He plans to go back to the city, but he changes his mind when he sees Shanti on his way. He falls in love with her at first sight, and decides to stay in the village. He asks his father to give him a job at the same school where Shanti works, and tries to impress her with his intelligence and sophistication.
The film is full of humorous and touching moments, as Kaji and Bam Kaji compete for Shanti’s attention, and deal with their own personal issues. The film also features the supporting characters from the previous films, such as Chhantyal (Buddhi Tamang) and B.K. (Bijay Baral), Kaji’s loyal friends, and Rudra (Ramachandra Raju), Varadha’s (Prakash Ghimire) evil stepbrother who wants to take over the village. The film also introduces some new characters, such as Adhya (Shruti Haasan), a mysterious woman who has a hidden agenda that could threaten the peace and stability of the village.
The film is a well-made and entertaining film that delivers what it promises: a fun and feel-good story that showcases the skills and charisma of its lead actors. The film does not aspire to be more than that, and it succeeds in its own terms. The film is rated U/A for some mild violence, language, and suggestive humor. The film is currently available on YouTube and in select theaters.
