Alive: A Survival Thriller in the Time of Pandemic
Alive is a 2020 South Korean zombie film directed by Cho Il-hyung, starring Yoo Ah-in and Park Shin-hye. It is based on the 2019 script Alone by Matt Naylor, who co-adapted his script with Cho. The film revolves around the struggle for survival of a video game live streamer who is trapped in his apartment during a zombie outbreak in Seoul.

The signal comes from Kim Yoo-bin (Park Shin-hye), a young woman who lives in the opposite building. She has been surviving on her own, using her wits and skills. She communicates with Joon-woo through signs and messages, and they form a bond. They decide to work together to escape from their situation. They use a zip line to cross over to Joon-woo’s building, but encounter a horde of zombies on the way. They manage to fight them off and reach Joon-woo’s apartment.
They rest and recharge their phones, hoping to get a signal. They also share their stories and feelings with each other. They learn that they have lost their families and friends to the virus. They also realize that they are not alone in the building, as there is a masked man who has been killing other survivors and zombies. He attacks them, but they manage to escape and lock him in a room.
They hear a broadcast from the army, announcing that they will bomb the city in 24 hours. They also receive a message from a rescue team, telling them to go to the rooftop of a nearby mall. They decide to take their chances and head to the mall. They encounter more zombies and obstacles on the way, but they overcome them with their courage and teamwork. They reach the rooftop and see a helicopter approaching. They wave their phones and flashlights, hoping to be seen. The film ends with a cliffhanger, as the helicopter flies over them and the screen cuts to black.
